The swimming
and social club
Love swimming at Hampton Pool?
Join our friendly club – now lifeguarded by Hampton Pool staff
As well as being a great way of saving money on your swimming, the club is also designed to encourage families and other swimmers to become involved with the aims and objectives of Hampton Pool Trust. Operating from Spring until Autumn, we also do voluntary work for the pool, including promoting it within the community.
Six good reasons to join the
Poolside Swim & BBQ Club:
- We welcome individuals, couples or families
of whatever age;
- Our aim is to ensure the continued viability of the pool;
- We host a friendly and relaxed ambience
with the accent on enjoyment;
- Three lanes for swimming at all club sessions…
…and plenty of room for families to enjoy themselves in both the main pool and the smaller learner pool;
- You can enjoy the benefits of a quieter environment:
Club takes place outside of public swimming sessions;
- The BBQ is lit during the evening sessions for members to cook and socialise around.
However, it is not a sports club and no coaching or sport activities are offered.
Our story is part
of the pool’s history
Originally known as the Swimming and Social Club, it was renamed the Poolside Swim & BBQ Club in 2011. It was established in 1985 when a group of local people saved Hampton Pool from permanent closure and it became the focal point for volunteers who raised money, cleared rubble and restored the pool for use by swimmers.
The emphasis on community spirit and voluntary work remains central to the club and all members are expected to contribute by organising and participating in fund raising activities and by offering more practical help with gardening and other maintenance. This commitment is an essential element of membership.

The club meets on four times each week from April until the beginning of October. |
