Frequently asked questions about
the Summer Picnic Concerts

Please read the following answers before contacting us:

Who can I speak to
if I have a question?

Please read the following answers to commonly asked questions. If they don’t help, please contact us by email at the following address spc@hamptonpool.co.uk.

ONLY call the pool reception if you haven’t heard back from us in over 48 hours. As we are all volunteers, we will try and answer your question as quickly as we can.

Where is my receipt of purchase?

Your PayPal receipt is your confirmation and receipt of purchase (even if you paid by Credit Card through PayPal). You will need to bring this with you to pick up your tickets if you purchase them within five days of the performance as there will not be time to mail them out to you.

How do I buy tickets?

Buying tickets online from this website is by far the simplest and most straightforward way of buying tickets. We have done our best to keep administration charges to a minimum.

You can buy tickets in person, but not by phone, at the pool reception from 14:00 on Saturday 5 March. If you do plan to buy them at the pool, please do try and avoid busy times, as customers for the pool, gym and other facilities are always given priority, so you could have a significant wait.

Do I need a PayPal account to buy tickets online?

PayPal is just our secure ‘payment gateway’, and as such, you can use it to pay with most major bank and credit cards. However, if you have a PayPal account you can use that too!

I ordered my tickets a week ago and I haven’t received anything?

As we mention on the ticket ordering page, your tickets may not be dispatched immediately but you will receive them at least two weeks before the date of the concert, normally sooner.

If tickets do not arrive by the expected date, please contact us in good time.

Ticket orders taken within five days of the performance will not be posted out to you but will be available from reception on the evening (you will still be charged postage for administration costs). YOU MUST BRING A COPY OF THE PAYPAL RECEIPT AS PROOF OF PAYMENT ON THE EVENING.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

We're sorry but tickets are non-refundable.

Is there a waiting list for sold out concerts?

We are not maintaining waiting lists this year. However, we can suggest that everyone who either has tickets to return or is looking for tickets to a sold out event uses a non profit ticket exchange called Scarlet Mist.

If there are any The Illegal Eagles plus Bootleg Blondie tickets they will be listed here.

Tickets are exchanged between individuals at the face vale of the ticket (or less). Since this is an external site, we do not guarantee any aspect of transactions you may have with the site or persons who use the site and we strongly recommend that you read their FAQs before using the site.

When do the concerts start and finish?

The scheduled opening time is 19:00. However, the gates may open 20 minutes before then. You will have time for a swim in our wonderful heated pools before the shows start, usually at around 19:00 (all show timings are approximate):

All concerts will finish at approxiamately 22:55.

There will be an interval half way through the evening. Food and drink will be available throughout the evening (see below and Food & drink page).

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and soft drinks, but the premises are licensed for the concerts so you cannot bring in any alcohol. As we have many bare feet around the pool, for safety reasons you must not bring any items of glass (bottles/glasses/bowls/etc.) onto the pool site.

Is there allocated seating?

The majority of the space for seating is on the grassy area in front of the stage. You should bring blankets and folding chairs (if you want these). There are no reserved areas.

Is there disabled access?

The pool grounds are on a single level without steps so it is accessible for wheel chairs and those with difficulty walking. Please note that in some areas the ground is uneven.

There is limited room in the car park so please call in advance to the pool on 020 8255 1116 if you are a blue badge holder and you would like a space reserving.

If you have reserved a space in the car park and arrive early you may wait in reception until the site is ready and safe to be entered. You will be advised by reception when you may enter the site.

Please let us know if you will require any special arrangements by contacting the pool in advance on 020 8255 1116

Where can we park?

The car park will be closed for the duration of the concerts except for pre-arranged disabled parking and concert crew.

Drop-offs in the car park will also NOT be possible.

If you would like to pre-arrange disabled parking please contact the manager at Hampton Pool on 020 8255 1116 who will reserve a place for you. This is severely limited and we cannot guarantee a space so please contact the manager stating your name, car reg and the date of the concert as soon as you can.

Alternatively, see the answer to the question below.

How can we get to the pool by public transport?

The area is well served by public transport. The R68 bus stops directly outside the pool. It runs between Hampton Court Station (connecting to SW Trains) and Richmond Station (with connections to both overground trains and the District Line of the London Underground. From there it passes through Twickenham and Teddington, in both cases not far from the stations.

There are also buses from Staines which stop close by.

You can check further details on the Transport for London or Red Planet Travel websites.

SPECIAL NOTICE: South West Trains disruption. The Shepperton branch will be closed all days from 16 July until 30 July. This is for a drainage and pump scheme to prevent flooding in Fulwell Tunnel during heavy rain. The opportunity will also be taken to do work on the Feltham area re-signalling scheme. Trains between London Waterloo and Shepperton will be altered to run between London Waterloo and Twickenham via Wimbledon and Kingston. Replacement bus services will run between Teddington and Shepperton. Other alterations will be made to provide extra services at peak times. Please look for special publicity nearer the time.

Can we bring our own picnic?

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and soft drinks, but the premises are licensed for the concerts so you cannot bring in any alcohol. As we have many bare feet around the pool, for safety reasons you must not bring any items of glass (bottles/glasses/bowls/etc.) onto the pool site.

You may bring folding picnic tables and folding picnic chairs. You may not bring larger folding tables or non-folding furniture and should not seek to create an “encampment” in the middle of the body of the audience.

Do you have a bar?

There is a reasonably priced bar selling a range of wine, cider and beer, including draft ales and lagers. You cannot bring your own alcohol because the premises are licensed. Again, as we have many bare feet around the pool, for safety reasons you must not bring any items of glass onto the pool site.

Is there any food available?

Exotic Tagine, of Kingston and of Glastonbury and other fine festivals will be serving chicken, lamb and vegetarian tagines. There is a barbecue that will be serving high quality burgers and sausages in rolls and also a café on the site, with a range of dishes and hot drinks. There is also an ice cream kiosk.

What happens if it rains?

The concerts will take place regardless of the weather. We hope for warm, dry evenings but be prepared if the forecast isn’t promising. In 2012, our visitors had a great time in spite of the rain at several concerts!

Is there anywhere to stay locally?

There is a Travelodge in Teddington and also in Twickenham, Sunbury, Kingston and Hounslow, all convenient for local bus routes R68, 216 and 111. There are also other hotels in Kingston, Hampton Hill, Hampton Court and Sunbury – with easy access to the pool by means of the local bus services.

Any surplus made from the concert season goes toward safeguarding the future of Hampton Pool and developing our treasured facility.
